First Family
- Deacon of the Week... is Drew Overstreet, October 5-11.
- Upward Basketball Season is here!... Sign your athlete up today on our church website under "Events" or the "What's Happening" page. Kids ages 5 years old through 8th grade are invited to join us for an exciting season of Christ-centered basketball! We are in need of coaches, assistant coaches and referees. There will be training on October 25 from 10am-12pm for any leaders to equip and prepare for the season.
- Winter coats are needed. Instead of selling your extra winter coats on Marketplace or donating them to one of our local thrift ships, why not launder them and bring them to the office so we can give them to those in need.
- Trunk or Treat... will be on Wednesday, October 29, 6:00-8:00 pm. Our goal is 30 trunks so please sign up here to host a trunk! We need donations of large bags of individually wrapped candy; our goal is 45,000 pieces of candy. Please leave these in the orange bins by the church office or at the black awning door, Door #6.
- Christmas Backpacks... It's the time of year to begin collecting and filling backpacks! You can change a child's life by filling a backpack yourself or donating so that our students can pack a bag for you. Empty backpacks are available at the church office.
- A Season of Hope... is a six-week support group designed to offer encouragement and healing. This group is open to all residents of Shelby County who are struggling with grief, loss, sadness, or issues with changes in their life and is free of charge. Led by experienced Christian counselors, this group provides a safe and supportive environment grounded in faith. Meetings are weekly on Wednesdays from September 10 to October 15, from 5:45-7:15 pm. - Church Security...With our security procedures and equipment that were installed last summer, our security team can assist you if you need access to the building after church or office hours. Please e-mail them at .
Children's Ministry
- Trunk or Treat... will be on Wednesday, October 29, 6:00-8:00 pm. Please contact Chad if you would like to host a trunk. Our goal is 30 trunks! - Children's Midweek... Pastor Chad and a team of leaders lead our children in Bible truths and missions on the 2nd floor during MidWeek on Wednesdays. Jessica Patton leads children's music from 6:00-6:30 pm. (Children need to be checked in by a parent before children's music.)
- American Heritage Girls... Their next meeting will be on Thursday, October 2, 2025. AHG regular meetings are led by Jessi Brown and Angie Brown. You may join them in the Fellowship Hall.
Women's Ministry
- The Women's MidWeek Bible Study... led by Angie Reid, takes us to the New Testament Book of Titus, Displaying the Gospel of Grace. They are meeting in Room 300.
Men's Ministry
- Men’s Bible Study… Mike Fackler leads this ongoing study on the book of Genesis on Saturdays at 8:00 am in the Fellowship Hall. Feel free to join them.
- Men’s Tuesday Morning Bible Study… Our dedicated Men’s Bible study group continues their 8:00 am meetings on Tuesday morning for breakfast and Bible study at the Cracker Barrel. Stop in and join them at any time.
Worship Ministry
- Worship Choir... Now is the perfect time to join our worship choir. We've begun looking towards the holidays. Join us for practice on Wednesdays at 7:30 PM in the Choir Suite. Additionally, if you would like to be a part of our praise team, please see Pastor Martin.
- Media Ministry Volunteers... The media ministry needs you! Whether you are tech-savvy or just willing to learn, you can play a vital role in helping our church reach people both in person and online. If you want to serve and make a real impact, contact Martin Gureasko.
MidWeek
- MidWeek... begins with a time of fellowship and a hot meal prepared by Chef Brent Evans. Our menu for October 8th: Chicken Cordon Bleu, Blackberry Feta Pork Loin, or Steak Gravy Hash, Spring Mix Salad, Wild Rice, Steamed Broccoli, Dinner Rolls and Dessert. Kid's Meal: Chicken Tenders or 1/2 portion of Adult Entree, Wild Rice or Steamed Broccoli and Dessert. The Fellowship meal will be served from 5pm-6:15 pm. Children's Music runs from 6:00-6:30 pm. Students and Bible Studies are held from 6:15-7:15 pm. You are always welcome to join us.
- MidWeek Studies... Pastor Dan will lead the Adult Study from the New Testament Book of Galatians; Room 303. The Women's Study will be led by Angie Reid based on the New Testament Book of Titus, Displaying the Gospel of Grace; Room 300. Students will gather with Pastor Brett in the Student Room to strengthen their relationships and grow with Christ. Pastor Chad will lead our Children in Bible truths & missions on the 2nd floor. Jessica Patton will lead Children's music from 6:00-6:30 pm. (Children need to be checked in by a parent before children's music.) Our worship leader, Pastor Martin, will lead Choir Practice at 7:30 pm.
Missions/Ministry
- "Adopt A Teacher"... We are adopting the faculty and staff at West Middle School to partner, pray, encourage and show appreciation throughout the year. If you would be willing to adopt one or more teachers or staff members, please see Suzanne Barrett for more information. We have 20 staff members yet to be adopted.
- Bible Study Fellowship… BSF is an international organization for women with participants from all ages from all around the world. It's back in full swing on Thursdays, 9:30 am-11:00 am. The new study Exile and Return is taken from the Old Testament. We welcome our new leader, Laura Lyon. Call the church office if you would like to know more about BSF or go to bsfinternational.org.
- Mary Sampson WMU... Our Mary Sampson WMU meet each month on Tuesdays at 10:00 am in the Chapel. Come be a part of learning about missions and how missions' impact so many across the globe.
- Support Missions... You can support missions while shopping at Kroger! SFBC can earn rewards from Kroger at the same time you earn your rewards and it's free! You can enroll easily. Visit KrogerCommunityRewards.com and sign in to your account or create an account. Then select First Baptist Church Shelbyville as your organization. The funds received by SFBC are split between Sunrise Children's Services, Oneida Baptist Institute and Clear Creek Bible College.
- Blessing Box Ministry... There are two Blessing Boxes. One is for food items and the other for items such as blankets, jackets, hats and gloves. You may bring your contributions and place them in the wheelbarrow located at the office entrance. (If you drop off your contributions anywhere else, we are unable to get a count of them.) Thank you for ALL the support you have given this invaluable ministry!
- Disaster Relief Training... The next Disaster Relief Training is scheduled on October 11th in Campbellsville, KY. To register, please visit www.kybaptist.org/disaster-relief/.
