Adult Ministries

The adult ministry exists to draw us together as Kingdom builders in our lives, our homes, our jobs, our community, and our church. We strive to be continually growing in our relationship with Christ through prayer, studying His word, fellowship and service.

Small Groups are a great way to grow in faith, practicing accountability and becoming stronger disciples for Christ. Below are some of our Adult Groups that you can get involved with.

Friends together

This ministry is an affinity-based approach to building relationships based on interests and activities. Baby Boomers (1946-1964) and any others who would like to participate are invited.

Senior Adults

At Shelbyville First Baptist we have an active group of senior adults which includes adults age 55 and up. Many of them are involved in various ministries within the church and meet at other times for travel adventures and ministry opportunities. Many in this group enjoy eating together in local restaurants. On occasion they host potluck-style luncheons at the church building with guest speakers and entertainment. A number of them help with hospital, nursing home, and homebound member visits.

Be sure to check out the numerous Bible Fellowship classes we have for adults who are age 55 and up.  For more information about our Senior Adult Ministry, please contact our church office at 502-633-1317 or e-mail us, .

Women

The Women’s Ministry of First Baptist Church exists to help women become all they can be in Christ Jesus. We want women to know who God is and who they are as Christians through ministries of evangelism and discipleship. We want women to enjoy the fulfillment of knowing, trusting, and supporting one another through ministries of encouragement. We want women to know their strengths and use them to build God’s kingdom and to build one another up through acts of service. Our hope and prayer is that each woman who participates will become a godly woman, strong in her faith and convictions, pure in her love and friendships, and certain of God’s promises and her life purpose.

BIBLE STUDIES

Fall and Spring Bible studies designed to meet the needs of women is a key component of reaching, maturing, and equipping women.

Men

One vital aspect of our men’s ministry is discipleship. Through discipleship we help men move towards maturity in their faith. We offer small groups on Sunday morning and men’s small groups which meet at various times and days of the week. We have small group Bible Study on Saturday mornings at 8am in the Studio.   All these opportunities are designed to challenge men to connect and grow with God as they develop meaning relationships with other men.

“It’s your serve!” Men serve in multiple ways and in nearly every aspect of church life–from singing in the choir to building and maintenance teams.  There’s a place for every man to use his talents and gifts here at SFBC.

Our church also offers special opportunities for men to connect with others through retreats, mission trips, and fun events.  Let us know how we can help you find a place of connection.
