I Want to Serve

How to Serve at SFBC

Each week members of Shelbyville First Baptist Church reach out to our community in a variety of ways.  You will find us at the local nursing homes, food kitchens, hospitals, and schools to mention a few.  We believe that every single Christian should be serving in some way.  God shapes every believer with talents and spiritual abilities that can be used to bring Him glory.  We want to help you find your place in God’s design–community outreach opportunities are available for you.

At Shelbyville First Baptist we believe that every single Christian is a minister.  God shapes every believer with talents and spiritual abilities that can be used to bring Him glory.  We want to help you find your place in God’s design.  We have service opportunities galore.

One of the easiest ways to begin to serve is to join us for Next Level on Wednesday evenings at 6:15 p.m.  Several classes are taught that can help you discover a place of service that best fits you.

Music & Worship

The music ministry of Shelbyville First Baptist offers many ways to fulfill the mission of the church — to love God, love people, and make disciples.  As we gather each week to worship as a collective group of Christians, we praise God with song for what He has done and for what He is doing in our life and the lives of others; we pray and listen to God; we learn God’s vision for our lives; and we learn how to follow His direction as we study His Word.

We believe that God gives us our talents and interests so that we may use them for his glory. If you have musical talent then we invite to join our music ministry and use your talent for God’s glory.  We have Adult Choir, Orchestra, Praise Teams, Handbell Choir, and special programs throughout the year.  For more information on how you can join one of our music groups, please contact Worship Pastor Gene Wright, our music/worship pastor.

Media Ministry

Our Media Ministry members play a vital role each week in our worship services. This ministry includes all sound and video related ministries for all church activities where these ministries are needed. If you have interest or experience in these areas, please contact Gene Wright. We have a place for you to utilize your experience for the Lord in this important ministry area.

A Night in Bethlehem

Every year toward the beginning of the Christmas season, we transform our entire parking lot into the little town of Bethlehem and invite our community to drive-thru and take a step back in time.  They are able to experience sights and sounds of what it might have been like at the time of Jesus' birth.  There are many ways in which you can join our cast and crew of this wonderful community event and if you'd like to volunteer or simply would like more info, you may contact or call our church office at 502-633-1317.
